An impressive 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion during pre-season suggests Kilmarnock are ready to pick up from where they left off last year – as the SPL's most improved team.
Kris Boyd may have departed for pastures blue but, in Steven Naismith, Danny Invincibile and Gary Wales, Jim Jefferies possesses enough attacking resources to offset the loss of the Scotland international striker.
If there is one concern it is that Naismith is already making noises about the possibility of following Boyd to one of the Old Firm.
"I can definitely look at boys getting big moves and admit I fancy a piece of that," he says. "Whether it's Rangers, Celtic or England, if I'm good enough then I'll get my move and get to the stage I want to play at."
