Levein Blasts Bauben Red Card PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 27 November 2008

Craig Levein has hit out at Prince Baubens sending off against Aberdeen in a reserve fixture on Monday which we ended up losing 2-0 at Glebe Park.

He will also be suspended for the St. Mirren match on Saturday. Bauben was sent off after stamping on Chris Maguire after 21 minutes of the tie. Bauben is obviously feeling frustrated since Scott Robertson’s arrival as he has struggles to get into the first team. Gomis and Swanson are also ahead of the queue for first team duties at the moment as well.

Here’s Craig’s comments:

"Prince was very silly and I'm really angry with him about what he did. I think the Aberdeen player had a wee kick at him but that's no excuse for Prince stamping on him.

"I've been playing Scott Robertson, Morgaro Gomis and Danny Swanson ahead of him and I don't expect him to like it.

"But that's my prerogative and I don't expect one of my players to have that sort of reaction.

"I've been happy with our discipline but that sort of behaviour is not acceptable.

"He's also given us a problem for Saturday. He's only 20 so he's a good player to have because of the under-21 rule - now I'll have to look for someone else."

He added: "Prince left his team-mates with a lot of hard work to do because of his actions on Tuesday.

"From my point of view as the manager that doesn't do them any harm but it changed the whole context of the game.

"The team had started very well but after what happened the things we wanted to do went out of the window.

"At this club we want to win every match we're involved in so I hope this is a lesson for Prince."
